The Best Spots For Wedding Videos In Newcastle

Newcastle’s incredible coastline and working harbour create the most amazing backdrop for your wedding video. Afternoons filled with dusty pink clouds scattered across a blushing sky, surfers catching the last gold-tinged wave of the day or the summer sun slipping magnificently into Newcastle Harbour these are all hallmarks of what makes Newcastle so magnificent.

Get the most amazing wedding photos and video at these fabulous vantage points across Newcastle.

Nobbys Beach

Pink and blue hues paint the skyline over the wide sweeping expanse of Nobbys Beach guaranteeing a picture-perfect moment. Our favourite vantage point is the southern end of the beach (near the Pasher Bulker sculpture or from the rock pools below) looking north towards Nobbys Lighthouse. Ask your wedding photographer to arrive at least 30 minutes to an hour before sunset.

The Bogey Hole

On days when the swell is small, the Bogey Hole is like a mirror! Often when the weather and currents permit it can be so clear you can see fish and crabs beneath the surface.

Merewether Baths

The sunset at the Merewether baths is one of the most iconic photos in Newcastle. Whether you’re looking back towards Bar beach, capturing the water's reflection and the lane numbers or the pumphouse, you’re setting yourself up for some amazing Newcastle wedding videography.

Anzac Memorial Walk

The Anzac Memorial Walk’s 450 metre clifftop span affords 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean and out to the Hunter Valley. Sunsets looking towards Merewether Beach are particularly beautiful and perfect for wedding videos.

The Obelisk

One of Newcastle’s oldest navigational markers high on a prominent knoll overlooking Newcastle, the Obelisk makes for a brilliant sunrise photo or drone video.  Built-in 1850, the stark white obelisk and lone palm tree contrast beautifully against a blushing sky and your beautiful wedding dress.

Newcastle Ocean Baths

The Newcastle Ocean Baths are an iconic Newcastle wedding video location. The Canoe Pool at the northern end of Newcastle Beach makes a brilliant vantage point for both sunset wedding photos. The rusted chain link fence offers a textural element while the adjacent rockpools look magic bathed in golden light and contrasted with your wedding dress.

Hunter Valley Wedding Photographers We Love!

As wedding cinematographers we always get asked by our couples “Do you guys also do photography?” the answer is no! Not because we hate photos, but because we’re about focusing on the art of videography and leaving the photos to our friends who are specialist wedding photographers.

As wedding cinematographers we always get asked by our couples “Do you guys also do photography?” the answer is no! Not because we hate photos, but because we’re about focusing on the art of videography and leaving the photos to our friends who are specialist wedding photographers. We find that choosing the right wedding photographer goes a long way to ensuring that your day runs smoothly and helps us capture your day in a way that compliments the photography so we’re all telling the same story!

So, who’re our favourite Wedding Photographers? Keep reading to see our three favourites!

Rhys From Hungry Hearts Co

We’ve known the team from HH for about 10 years! Rhys has been behind the lens capturing the intimate moments in between and has mastered the art of direction to ensure that your day is captured in the best way possible. Rhys has an undeniably modern style and is your choice if you’re after a wedding photographer who knows how to have fun! Don’t take this fun and relaxed attitude for unprofessionalism though. Rhys has been featured in Vogue, Hello May & a host of other impressive publications.

“Building a connection with my couples is at the top of my priority list, my goal is to make you feel happy and confident in my presence. So, I’m a big fan of making pals before the big day. Catching up a few times means I’ll be a friendly and familiar face. (That idiot with the bad jokes.) Someone who can banter with your mates, befriend mum and dad and keep nanna out of mischief. You’ll know and trust that I’m on your team and it’ll make all the difference. We’ll be amigo’s, shake and bake, potato and gravy with a side of chips.

My only promise is this - when you’re tossing back chicken wings and flicking through your albums in 100 years, you’ll smile and say, geez that was fun.”

Benedict Sutton Photography

Benny is a master of the art of photography. He knows how to perfectly capture the mood of your day, and applies more artistic photographic techniques than your average wedding photographer. Like all good wedding photographers, he makes it his mission to build a relationship with his clients to ensure he understands their personalities. This allows him to craft a story that takes you back to the feeling captured in those moments.

“I'm a huge believer in referencing a photograph to a memory. Not only does this photograph take you back to this specific point in time, but it also familiarises you with feelings felt at that exact moment.

On a wedding day, I look to preserve the little moments that can bring back these memories, little moments that others might miss, the moments that may happen quickly, those organic, real moments that matter.”

House of Lucie

With over 10 years in the game, Khara (House of Lucie) is a true industry expert. She’s obsessed with capturing the outpour of emotion between two on a wedding day, and this passion carries through into her work. Her philosophy of “Artful Romanticism” is something we truly adore and makes her one of our favourite wedding photographers!

“Over the past 10 years of being a wedding photographer, I have developed my signature-style to be artfully romantic, editorial and poetically timeless. With gentle guidance and unwavering warmth, you can trust that my photographs will be true representation of you and your unique connection.”

Getting your wedding captured by a videographer is the best way to re-live all the feelings of your wedding day. Obviously, if we’re available and you love our style then book us for your wedding! Morelife Films

Morelife Films is here to help you have and capture fun on your wedding day. Their goal has always been to tell the authentic story of two people and the way they live to their fullest potential. Hence, More Life.

They believe the best stories are told through the connections they make with their couples and good vibes. They’re experts at mingling and making pals with your nearest and dearest so that they can capture candid moments showing everyone's natural and amazing selves!

La Lune Cinema

La Lune believes your love is a story worth telling, amen! When they started 12 years ago they wanted to bring a new angle to wedding filmmaking. The Runaway Hearts

The Runaway Hearts want you to  feel like you’re looking through your mum’s old photo album from when you were a kid. Capturing nostalgic moments to make real-life look beautiful. Love is messy and weddings aren’t perfect and the runaway hearts want to capture yours in a way that feels nostalgic, so you’ll remember how it FELT rather than just the perfect stuff. Here’s the bit we really love; The Runaway Hearts shoots weddings on real Super 8mm film! Your footage will probably look like it was taken out of a 60s indie film. Pick these guys if you’re a couple that loves a vintage aesthetic, and just want to have some unpolished, fun and authentic memories of your wedding day captured in movie form!

So which Hunter Valley wedding venue should you choose? Well, that totally depends on your own taste! If you’re not sure where to start here are our 5 favourite Hunter Valley Wedding Venues.

Redleaf - Wollombi

Redleaf Wollombi is a magnificent, luxury country retreat set on 100 acres only 3 km from the historic township of Wollombi and a short drive to Hunter Valley Wineries. With 10 acres of manicured gardens, this elegant Italian style villa is the perfect place for your dream wedding!

With its Tuscan inspired design Redleaf is truly one of the Hunter Valley’s most beautiful wedding venues. If you’re dreaming of long rows of tables, fairy lights and amazing food under the stars then Redleaf is the place for you. For inspiration check out Jess & Angus Harper’s wedding as shot by Hungry Hearts Co it captures the best of what Redleaf has to offer.

Adams Peak Country Estate - Adams peak

Are you looking for a location that can hold your ceremony, reception and accommodation for 24 people all on one amazing 100-acre property? Then Adams Peak Country Estate is the perfect place for you. It ticks ALL the boxes. With various ceremony and reception areas to choose from, there is something for everyone.

The Barn, with its rustic charm, can be styled simply to keep within its country character. The Hay Shed, with its open-air and elegant styling, makes the most of the sweeping views across the valley and surrounding mountain range. Both The Barn and The Hay Shed can hold up to 150 people seated and 180 for a cocktail reception in either venue.

With amazing views of the valley as the backdrop for your ceremony and accommodation for 24 people, it’s a perfect location for a destination wedding in the Hunter Valley. An abundance of additional accommodations for your other guests is available all within 5 minutes.

Stanley Park - Fullerton Cove

One of the Hunter Valleys most unique and grand waterfront estates, Stanley Park circa 1897 is a landmark residence unparalleled in grace, style and historic legend. Wedding ceremony, photos, reception and accommodation can all take place in the one pristine location, Stanley Park is exclusive to each wedding.

The 28-acre property boasts a large rustic American style barn for receptions, an 8 bedroom Victorian homestead for accommodation, and multiple ceremony backdrops including a towering fig tree and a tranquil lake setting a true Wedding Cinematographers dream!

Couples have the freedom to create a wedding that reflects their own style. One huge perk of this venue is that drinks are BYO and you have complete freedom to choose your own caterers, photographers, designers, florists, entertainment. Because of the properties size, it adapts well to various reception styles, from formal sit-down, cocktail, high tea or whatever else you can think of.

For us, Stanley Park is a true stand-out as all of your photos, wedding video, ceremony, reception and accommodation can be done in the same space! Meaning, less time mucking around, travelling to different places for photos, and more time enjoying the best day of your life!

Dark Horse Vineyard - Lovedale

Tucked away off Wilderness Road far beyond the stone wall, two magnificent, newly constructed black caviar barns cut a dramatic shape in 25 acres of immaculate vines, paddocks and beautifully manicured lawns.

It’s no wonder this exclusive estate is known as the Dark Horse of the Hunter (Pun intended). The dark horse was designed to blend the charm of the Hunter Valley with the high-end finishes you'd expect from a venue found in the city.

There are two main venues to choose from. The Stables is a custom-built all-weather American-style event venue that comfortably hosts up to 170 guests. Whilst the  Barnhouse is a homestead that sleeps six and makes a luxurious retreat and entertainment space that exudes equestrian charm.

The 7.5 acres of vineyard was first planted in the 1960s. The grapes are still harvested today and passed on to an award-winning winemaker to produce Semillon and Chardonnay.

Wallalong House - Morpeth

Wallalong House is located just out of the gorgeous town of Morpeth. The house, the grounds, the grandeur are yours, as a wonderful setting for your wedding day. The permanent on-site tent with polished concrete floors is included in the Venue hire cost, so you can set up that dream boho look quickly and easily here.

The tone is set on arrival at the front gates which have been custom-made to replicate the original ironwork on the property and are fully electronic. As they open, your eyes are drawn along the pear-tree-lined driveway across to the rustic 1830’s stables which have the original cobblestone flooring and decorative iron rails, purchased from the Crystal Palace Exhibition in London in 1854.

Continuing further you arrive at the front of this amazing single-level country homestead, with wide sweeping verandahs and wrought iron columns. A splendid mix of Georgian and Victorian architecture, the home sits proudly amongst four massive one-hundred-and-ninety-year-old fig trees with breathtaking views of the surrounding farmland.

The grounds of the estate feature rambling English-style cottage gardens, antique wooden daybeds, french iron chairs and tables sprinkled on the lawns, four 200-year-old fig trees line the front of the property where the ceremonies are held, an in-ground pool which is nestled on the edge of the Indian tent where the receptions are held.

Each of these venues creates a stunning backdrop for your wedding video. If you want to find out more about these venues or anything else about wedding cinematography don’t hesitate to reach out via our contact form.
